For Captain Sam Griffith, fishing isn’t just a pastime—it’s a way of life.
Born and raised in Delaware, Sam has spent his entire life fishing the waters of the Delmarva Peninsula. From the marshes and shallow flats to the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay, his time on the water has built a deep appreciation for the fish, the places they call home, and the responsibility we have to protect them for generations to come.

That passion for fishing eventually took Sam north to Alaska, where he gained valuable experience working as a fishing guide. Guiding in Alaska opened his eyes to what a career on the water could look like and inspired him to pursue a dream of his own: bringing that same passion for quality fishing experiences back home to the Chesapeake Bay.
 

Today, Sam specializes in shallow-water fishing aboard his 16-foot flats skiff, a boat built to access skinny water and pursue some of the Chesapeake region’s most exciting game fish. Depending on the season and conditions, trips can target striped bass, redfish, and speckled trout, with an emphasis on sight fishing, fly fishing, and light-tackle techniques.

As a guide, Sam believes that a great day on the water is about more than simply catching fish. It’s about experiencing the Chesapeake, learning the water, enjoying time outside, and developing a deeper appreciation for the resource. He takes a conservation-minded approach to guiding, treating the fish and the environment with respect so that these fisheries can continue to provide incredible opportunities for years to come.

Captain Sam is U.S. Coast Guard licensed with an OUPV (Six-Pack) license and carries commercial guide insurance, giving clients the confidence that they are fishing with a properly licensed and insured professional.
